Introduction
The Somerset Youth Angling Club (“The Club”) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members, parents, volunteers, and visitors. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all individuals associated with The Club.
1. General Principles
- All members, parents, and volunteers must:
- Act with respect, integrity, and fairness towards others.
- Promote inclusivity and ensure everyone feels welcome and valued.
- Follow all Club policies, rules, and procedures.
- Represent The Club in a positive and respectful manner.
- Take care of the environment and Club equipment.
2. Behaviour Expectations
2.1 Cadet, Junior & Youth Members
Members are expected to:
- Respect their peers, coaches, and volunteers at all times.
- Follow instructions from Club officials and event organizers.
- Use equipment responsibly and avoid causing damage.
- Avoid disruptive or aggressive behavior.
- Adhere to environmental conservation practices, including disposing of litter appropriately.
2.2 Parents and Guardians
- Parents and guardians are expected to:
- Encourage and support their children in adhering to this Code of Conduct.
- Communicate respectfully with Club officials, coaches, and other members.
- Refrain from negative or abusive behavior during events or competitions.
- Ensure their children arrive on time and with appropriate equipment.
- Report any concerns regarding safety or welfare to the Welfare Officer.
2.3 Volunteers and Coaches
- Volunteers and coaches are expected to:
- Act as positive role models for junior members.
- Maintain professional boundaries and avoid favoritism.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and report any concerns promptly.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal development.
3. Safeguarding and Welfare
- All members must prioritize the safety and welfare of junior participants.
- Any concerns about the behavior or well-being of a member should be reported to the Welfare Officer.
- Bullying, harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
4. Environmental Responsibility
- Members must respect local wildlife, water bodies, and surrounding areas.
- Littering is strictly prohibited.
- Members are encouraged to participate in conservation efforts organized by The Club.
5. Health and Safety
- Members must follow all safety instructions provided by event organizers or coaches.
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., life jackets) must be used when required.
- Any accidents or injuries must be reported immediately to a Club official.
6. Disciplinary Procedures
- Any breaches of this Code of Conduct will be investigated by the Committee.
- Depending on the severity of the breach, consequences may include:
- A verbal or written warning.
- Suspension from activities.
- Termination of membership.
- Members have the right to appeal any disciplinary actions to the Committee.
7. Acknowledgment
- All members, parents, and volunteers must sign an acknowledgment form confirming that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
