🎣 Thorney Lakes Coaching – Angling Trust Get Fishing Event (Open to All)

 We’re excited to announce a Get Fishing coaching day at Thorney Lakes, hosted by Somerset Youth Angling Club in partnership with the Angling Trust. This event is open to everyone — whether you’re a complete beginner, a young angler looking to improve your skills, or a parent wanting to enjoy a fun, family-friendly day by the water.

Join us at the beautiful Thorney Lakes Fishery for an inclusive and relaxed introduction to fishing. Our qualified Level 2 Angling Coaches and friendly volunteers will be on hand to help participants learn the basics — from setting up your tackle and baiting up, to safely landing and releasing fish.
 
With stunning surroundings, safe access, and well-stocked lakes, Thorney Lakes is the perfect venue to experience the joy of angling in a supportive and welcoming environment.

• Fishing safety and good angling practice
• Basic tackle setup (whip and pole fishing)
• Fish care and handling
• How to feed and attract fish
• Catching your first fish — guaranteed fun!

Our sessions are designed to make fishing simple, safe, and enjoyable, helping people of all ages discover a lifelong outdoor hobby that promotes wellbeing, confidence, and connection with nature.
