🎣 Junior Match 3 – Walrow Ponds (Silvers Lake), Highbridge – 16th May 2026
The Somerset Youth Angling Club Junior Series continues with Match 3 of the 2026 season at the much-loved Walrow Ponds in Highbridge — fishing on the superb Silvers Lake.
Known for its fantastic silverfish sport, consistent bites, and friendly setting, Silvers Lake is the perfect test of skill, patience, and presentation for our young anglers. Expect plenty of roach, skimmers, perch, and the odd surprise carp as our juniors compete for valuable league points in one of the most exciting fixtures of the season.
This event is open to all Cadet and Junior members, with support from our qualified coaches and volunteers throughout the day. It’s a great opportunity for every young angler to improve their fishing, enjoy the outdoors, and share a fun, rewarding day on the bank.

Walrow’s Silvers Lake is one of Somerset’s most consistent and exciting silverfish waters. With even depths, clean pegs, and well-stocked species including roach, rudd, skimmers, and hybrids, it’s a fantastic venue for teaching juniors key match techniques such as pole, whip, and light-rig fishing.
The fishery’s peaceful setting and great access make it ideal for both newcomers and returning juniors — and a favourite stop on the Somerset Youth Angling Club match calendar.

Venue & tackle
Located in the heart of Highbridge, Walrow Ponds is a fantastic venue for junior anglers of all ages and experience levels. Known for its peaceful setting, easy access, and well-maintained pegs, it’s no surprise this venue has become a regular feature in our match calendar.
Walrow offers a great variety of fish including roach, rudd, perch, bream, and carp – making it an ideal location for learning and improving angling skills in a fun, safe, and relaxed environment.
Thanks to the ongoing support from Highbridge Angling Association, we’re thrilled to return again this season. Their warm welcome and commitment to junior development make Walrow feel like a home away from home for our young anglers.
